Meewasin Trail Closures

BEAVER CREEK CLOSURES: Beaver Creek Conservation Area closes for all stat holidays. Additionally, extreme weather conditions can lead to temporary closures. Please check the Beaver Creek Conservation Area webpage, Meewasin social media channels for up to date information or contact Beaver Creek Interpretive Staff directly at 306-374-2474.

RURAL SITE CLOSURES: For the safety of all, Meewasin seasonally closes all rural river access sites (Fred Heal Canoe Launch, Paradise Beach, and Poplar Bluffs). The rural river access sites are closed seasonally due to the hazards caused by heavy snowfall and partial freezing of the river. Meewasin’s top priority is the safety of the community, so the decision to seasonally close these sites is to prevent avoidable accidents from occurring at remote locations.

Along the shore throughout the river valley, there are many areas of unstable ice shelves that are hard to distinguish from an elevated view. They become so brittle that even children or pets can easily break though and fall into the river below. These conditions around the river edge also put the area at risk for erosion, so it is recommended that visitors stay on established and maintained trails away from the river edge.

These sites reopen in Spring. Please keep an eye on Meewasin social media accounts for announcements.
