Invasive Species of the Meewasin Valley – Webinar

Invasive Species were identified as the number one threat to the ecological integrity of Meewasin Valley in the 2017 Meewasin Valley-wide Resource Management Plan. Meewasin’s Resource Management Officer, Renny W. Grilz, PAg, will discuss the various invasive species that are found in the valley, some of the new arrivals that are popping up, and the ones Meewasin is on the look-out for. Renny will also discuss Meewasin’s integrated invasive species control program and the different approaches Meewasin uses in controlling invasive species in the Valley.

Summer Activities at Beaver Creek Conservation Area
Beaver Creek is a popular place to take a walk in nature and hand-feed the resident black-capped chickadees. But did you know that there are a lot of other activities happening on site this summer?

Pop-up Interpreter – July 28 (9 am-4 pm) - Find a Meewasin Interpreter along the trail and learn more about what makes Beaver Creek special.
BCCA BioBlitz - July 22 (1 pm-3 pm) - Become a citizen scientist and sign up to help us catalogue species of interest on site. *This is a volunteer event and requires advance registration* - Register Here
Parks Canada Learn to Camp – July 16, 22 & 30 (9 am–4 pm) – Our friends from Parks Canada will be on site promoting their Learn-to-Camp program. Try out some activities that introduce you to camping!
Meewasin Trails Day is part of the international celebration of trails to promote trail development, the use of trails and the healthy lifestyle they encourage. It is an exciting day including recreation, movement, art, community, and most significantly, the appreciation and support of our local organizations.
International Trails Day occurs every year on the first Saturday of June.
