Gabriel Dumont Park

Named for one of the Métis leaders of the Northwest Resistance of 1885, Gabriel Dumont Park offers a panoramic view of the magnificent South Saskatchewan River. Meewasin restored the park, which was once a concrete waste site, back to a natural state. The park now has something for everyone, including a children’s play village, picnic tables, and washroom facilities. It’s also an urban magnet for migrating warblers! The parking lot is accessible via Saskatchewan Crescent West.

DETOUR NOTICE

On April 11, 2024, a fire damaged the wooden walkway entering Gabriel Dumont Park from the intersection of 8th Street W and Saskatchewan Crescent W. The rest of Gabriel Dumont Park is unaffected. The detour will remain in place until the walkway is repaired.

Note that the detour routes trail users along the sidewalk and briefly onto a minor roadway – be wary and share the road.
