ASUPCA Partners Develop Voluntary Carbon Offset Program
July 6, 2010
The Association of Saskatchewan Urban Parks & Conservation Agencies (ASUPCA) of which Meewasin is a founding member has launched a voluntary carbon offset program.Individuals and organizations can reduce their carbon footprint by purchasing carbon offsets from ASUPCA. Revenues are used to reforest and naturalize ASUPCA's urban parks and conservation zones mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. Susan Lamb CEO of Meewasin congratulates ASUPCA on its efforts and is proud to have Meewasin take leadership in encouraging all to reduce their carbon footprint.
A carbon offset calculator is available on the website. Donations may be directed to one or all seven ASUPCA members through paypal. ASUPCA and its members (Battlefords' River Valley, Swift Current's Chinook Parkway, Saskatoon's Meewasin Valley, Prince Albert's Pehonan Parkway, Weburn's Tatagwa Parkway, Moose Jaw's Wakamow Valley and Regina’s Wascana Centre) are all not-for-profit organizations. They will report annually on how their respective carbon offset donations are used.
