Meewasin’s most recent long term Strategic Plan is dated 2014-2024. The key themes of that plan include:
- Ensuring significant natural areas are conserved as the city grows;
- Refreshing trail infrastructure to respond to high numbers of users and aging assets and extensions to support the growth of the city;
- Renewing conservation and interpretation concepts focused on hands-on experiences and participation to enable stewardship; and
- Programming in the valley in all seasons to ensure the valley is a hub of activity year-round.
Meewasin has developed a set of Goals & Strategies for 2025-2028, based on a review of the 2014-2024 Strategic Plan, intended to carry the organization through the exploration of a potential National Urban Park in the Saskatoon region. The key themes of the 2025-2028 Goals & Strategies are:
- Identify potential amendments to Meewasin’s jurisdictional boundary to reflect urban growth and meet regional demand;
- Maintain the health of the river valley corridor to benefit our growing population and sustain biodiversity for future generations;
- Coordinate seasonal opportunities for citizens and visitors to connect with the river valley, learn about its history and significance and enhance its use; and
- Further relationships, innovation, expertise, advocacy and reconciliation necessary to steward the river valley corridor.
