The Meewasin Board of Directors welcomes two new members. Dr. Yuguang Bai will serve a three term as a representative for the University of Saskatchewan and Ms. Sharon Tkachuk will serve a three year term as a representative for the Province of Saskatchewan.
Dr. Yuguang Bai is a professor and Head of the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan. He also served as the Acting Associate Dean Research at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, U of S. He received his PhD in Pant Ecology from U of S and has been teaching and conducting research in areas of grassland and forest ecology, conservation, reclamation, and climate change. He has published over 70 peer reviewed publications and served on the editorial board of several scientific journals including Rangeland Ecology and Management.
Sharon Tkachuk, prior to her retirement was a high school math teacher; a provincial curriculum developer; and math consultant as well she served as a home stay coordinator for Our Catholic Schools International Student Program.
For forty-eight years Sharon has been involved in athletics as an official, a national clinician, a mentor, a program developer, and has served on the Sask. Athletics Board and on the IAAF rules committee. As a level five International track referee Sharon has officiated at numerous meets, including the Commonwealth Games, Pan Am Games and at The World Track and Field Championship. Sharon has been inducted to the Sask. Sport Hall of Fame, and the Saskatoon Sport Hall of Fame as a builder.
