Meewasin is hosting an all-day BioBlitz at the Meewasin Northeast Swale from 5 AM through to 9 PM on July 26th. Numerous biological and ecological data collection activities will be scheduled throughout the day, including grassland bird point counts, wetland macro-invertebrate sampling, insect traps and sweeps, small mammal traps, plant inventories, ecological health assessments and several other activities. Volunteers can also collect data on biological diversity they are most interested in. Volunteers do not require specific skills just an interest in helping collect information on biological diversity of the Northeast Swale.
A schedule of activities will be available closer to the event, as details are finalized. Funding for this event is provided by TD Friends of the Environment.
