International Trails Day is an annual celebration of recreation trails to promote trail development, the use of trails and the healthy lifestyle they encourage. Meewasin invites you to celebrate trails by walking, running and rolling EVERY DAY on the Meewasin Trail.
This year, International Trails Day is Saturday, June 6. We encourage you to use the Meewasin Trail, learn about trails and explore how you can support trail development in the Meewasin Valley.
Meewasin, in partnership with the Trans Canada Trail, is wrapping up the Meewasin Matters Trail Campaign to raise $8 million to expand the Meewasin Trail approximately 15 kms to reach both Wanuskewin Heritage Park in the northwest and Chief Whitecap Park in the southeast.
There are currently more than 60 kms of Meewasin Trail for you to enjoy and the northwest section to Wanuskewin Heritage Park is now open. Construction on the southeast portion to Chief Whitecap Park is expected to be complete in Fall 2015 with the trail opening in early 2016 which will result in approximately 80 kms of Meewasin Trail.
