GOOD STEWARDSHIP BEHAVIOURS IN MEEWASIN VALLEY ENFORCED THIS WEEKENDLocal RCMP and Corman Park Police will be enforcing good stewardship behaviours in Meewasin Valley this weekend. Meewasin is pleased to have the support of law enforcement to keep public sites within the Meewasin Valley safe and family-friendly.
Visitors to the various public sites throughout Meewasin Valley are reminded of the following (to avoid potential fines and charges):
1. Liquor is not allowed in public parks or natural areas.
2. Open fires are not permitted anywhere within Meewasin Valley. Fire pits are provided in some riverbank parks (and at the Forestry Farm Park). These are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Users must supply their own fire wood.
3. Propane barbeques and picnicking is allowed in the Meewasin Valley. Picnickers are reminded to leave nature as they found it and haul out everything they brought into a park or site.
4. Motorized vehicles are prohibited within public sites, on all public trails, and on sandbars in and along the river (unless otherwise posted).
5. Swimming is strongly discouraged due to the dangerous currents and under-tows of the South Saskatchewan River. Wading is allowed. The public is reminded to use extreme caution around the river at all times.
6. Public sites within Meewasin Valley and outside city limits are open from sunrise to sunset.
As a courtesy, public washrooms are open throughout Meewasin Valley. Locations include Beaver Creek, Cranberry Flats, Diefenbaker Park, Kinsmen Park, Kiwanis Memorial Park, Meewasin Park, Rotary Park, and throughout Gordon Howe Park. Detailed locations for washrooms within city limits are available from the City of Saskatoon at http://www.saskatoon.ca/org/leisure/facilities/parks.asp.
