The Saskatoon Natural Grasslands is a 34 acre (13.8 hectare) parcel of native Saskatchewan grassland lying within the Silverspring community, 8 kilometres from the city centre along the South Saskatchewan River. In a surprisingly natural condition, this fescue grassland is not just grass, but an ecosystem – a complex association of grasses, plants, fungi, lichen, animals, insects, and other organisms.
By conserving and nurturing the prairie, Meewasin in partnership with local schools, the Silverspring Community, the Saskatoon Nature Society and the University of Saskatchewan Extension Department enhances biological richness and aesthetics providing opportunities for interpretation.
