Meewasin has and will continue to use the following five principles as fundamental to the planning of the Valley.
- The Valley's resources and amenities should be accessible to everyone to use and enjoy year round insofar as financially possible and environmentally desirable.
- The need for recreation and other development should be balanced with the need for natural and heritage resource conservation.
- A diversity of activities should be provided in different settings to serve a variety of interests and needs.
- Significant natural and heritage resources should be preserved.
- Opportunities should be provided for individuals and groups to participate in the preparation of plans and decision making on matters, which directly affect them.
These principles generally will be common to subsequent development strategies, and will guide the formation and implementation of all plans and resource management strategies, including each Five Year Plan.
