TERM POSITION
A. Construction Foreman (Seasonal Work)
RATE: Range $19.03 - 21.08 per hour plus pension, disablilty insurance, life insurance, dental benefits.
START DATE: August 1, 2008
END DATE: October 31, 2008
DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Construction Supervisor, the Construction Foreman will supervise and participate in the execution of landscape maintenance and construction projects.
- Supervise the work of a seasonal crew of unskilled and semi-skilled construction labourers and serve as work leader. Occasionally supervised the work of two crews (4-10 people) if another foreman is away.
- Provide general orientation and training of new employees.
- Attend to the performance of labour and materials for construction and maintenance projects. This includes the construction, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of buildings, structures, furnishings, signs and landscape amenities.
- Safeguard tools, equipment and other property used in the construction projects undertaken by crews.
- Maintain daily time records and other records for each member of the crew and report to the Construction Supervisor. Maintain daily records related to projects.
- Ensure that Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met by himself/herself and any employees that are supervised by him/her.
- Perform other similar duties as assigned from time to time.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Education Completion of Grade Ten.
- Experience
- A minimum of two years construction or landscape construction experience.
- Knowledge of general construction methods, minor metal fabrication, some carpentry and landscaping skills an asset.
- Knowledge of the safe use of tools, equipment and vehicles employed in landscape maintenance and construction.
- Other Required Skills
- Capable of supervising a number of people.
- A valid driver's license.
- The ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform strenuous manual labour for lengthy periods.

B Interpreter (Full-time and Part-time position available)
The Meewasin Valley Authority conserves the natural and cultral heritage resouces of the South Saskatchewan River valley in the Saskatoon area.
The Interpreter will deliver a range of fun and educational programs, primarily at the Meewasin Valley Centre, to promote a better understandin and appreciation of the valley resources.
The suceessful candidate will have:- post-secondary courses with a focus on environment, education, or human history
- experience in the delivery of interpretive programs
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- ability to communicate well with children and adults
- knowledge of first aid would be an asset
- above average presentation and public relation skills
- good computer literacy, web page design would be an asset
